About Portraits of Truth

Portraits of Truth was a project that I photographed to help raise awareness for the Neighborhood Writing Alliance, an organization that brought creative writing workshops to individuals in underserved communities around Chicago.  The photos highlight two writers from the NWA, Allen and Kucha. While their walks of life are very different, their lives encompass similar qualities that give roots to their poems--faith, family, friends, and community.

The photos were later displayed at the Human Thread gallery in Chicago alongside works from world renowned photographer, Milton Rogovin.
